In this day and age, people may complain about the quality of animation - especially in the US - but I reckon we Brits get the grit and bristle from the bone.
Why?
Because a huge majority of our kids television is outsourced - be it from American, Japan, Spain, Torquay - with a small minority of characters or shows being made "in house" or even "in country". The only studios that seemed to have accomplished that in their hey-day were Cosgrove Hall, Mark Mason Animation and Collingwood O'Hare.
And just when I had given up all hope of there being any decent modern day British animation, this wonderful little gem pops up....
OOglies is a hilarious stop-motion sketch show about household items (everything from pencils to TVs to potatoes and sprouts) with "ooglie eyes" in stuff that is obviously inspired by Looney Tunes. This was produced by BBC Scotland for CBBC featuring the best animators from BRITISH studios as Cosgrove Hall and Aardman.
And I have to admit, after watching both seasons, THIS have restored my faith that, one day, the UK will bring more shows like this for today's generation to laugh and grow up with.
Here's a sample of the madness for your viewing pleasure:
