The first episode of the new Ant and Aardvark segment for "Pink Panther and Pals" that set the ball rolling for me - John Over, to me, seems like a modern-day John Dunn with his original storytelling and fascinating direction. Plenty of fluid movements and camera shots to behold :D
One thing I forgot to mention in the last blog is how John Byner (the original voices for both characters) does not reprise his roles here. While a shame, although understandable for his current age, I do praise Eddie Garvar for maintaining Byner's original Jackie Mason "yiddish" - while Ken Mitchell (one half of "Kenan and Kel") takes over as the Ant; there have been mixed views from A&A fans on this decision, but I must admit it's nice to see Mitchell is still around for "fun" roles again, animated or not. Plus he doesn't do too bad a job either :)
Anyway, in this episode, Aardvark finds he's too out of shape to chase after the Ant (which seems odd, considering his new design is a lot skinnier than his original form!) and so relies on the "Super Jucier" to brew him energy drinks to give him super powers: including Legs of Steel, Super Vision, Strong Sense of Smell and a "Super Duper Brain"...as always with the Aardvark, his own plans backfire on him greatly.
This is a fun sequence when the Aardvark tries the Super Juicer for the first time to gain "Legs of Steel". He seems disappointed when he "doesn't feel anything" at first; then....
More on this episode in another post to come...just to whet your appetites, shall we say.
